How to REVERSE Windows 10 Upgrade

Reverse Windows 10 back to Windows 7 or 8

If it’s been less than a month since you upgraded to Windows 10 you can go back by using Windows Recovery. If it’s been more than a month you will need to try a different recovery option.

  • Go to Update & Recovery from the Settings window.
  • On the Recovery window select either Go back to Windows 7 or Go back to windows 8.1(this will not affect personal files but may remove any apps installed after the upgrade)
    • You will need to follow the steps below to make sure that windows 10 does not automatically install and to get rid of the annoying windows 10 upgrade ready notification.

Remove Windows 10 Upgrade Notification:

Windows  7:

  • Go to Windows Update from the Control Panel.
  • Select Installed Updates on the bottom left of the window.
  • Search for  KB3035583 then right click on this update to uninstall.
    • Also, you need to hide the update again in windows updates to prevent it from auto installing. Just right click and choose “Hide Update”.

Windows  7:

  • Go to Windows Update from the Control Panel.
  • Select Installed Updates on the bottom left of the window.
  • Search for  KB3035583 then right click on this update to uninstall.
    • Also, you need to hide the update again in windows updates to prevent it from auto installing. Just right click and choose “Hide Update”.

Windows 8:

  • Go to Programs from the Control Panel.
  • Open the Programs and Features window and on the right pane click “View Installed Updates”.
  • Search for  KB3035583 then right click on this update to uninstall.
    • Also, you need to hide the update again in windows updates to prevent it from auto installing. Just right click and choose “Hide Update”.
